Monday 10 January 2005 8:19 pm The police in Islington do a great job in helping to protect us all but today I found out that between April and October 2004 there were 328 attacks on police in Islington, doing their job. Like many other local people I have been a victim of crime myself, and I have nothing but admiration for the difficult job they do, often in very trying circumstances. It is appalling that as they protect us, they face personal physical attacks which put them in danger. I hope every local resident joins me in condemning any attacks on our local police. Policing is not a desk job, and of course bobbies out on the street can expect a few knocks. But for two police to be deliberately assaulted every day in Islington is completely unacceptable.
