Regeneration: Making London’s wealth work for Londoners

Bridget will champion the concerns of London's small businesses

There is more to our city than the Square Mile; we need to support London’s local economy

Bridget’s priorities:

  • maximising the Olympic legacy for Londoners
  • encouraging Business Improvement Districts and supporting town centres;
  • promoting green jobs.

Harnessing the best possible Olympic legacy for London is a key issue for the new Assembly. Bridget has a decade’s experience at the Sports Council; as Deputy Leader of Islington Council, she helped secure the regeneration benefits of the new Emirates Stadium.

In tough financial times, we need to learn the lessons from previous regeneration schemes. Bridget led on regeneration and partnerships for Islington, and is an experienced member of the Kings Cross Single Regeneration Board and the City Fringe Partnership, covering the City, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Islington and Camden.

Small businesses are vital for a vibrant London economy. As a community campaigner, Bridget has worked with small businesses in north London, campaigning for better business recycling, fairer business rates, effective crime prevention schemes, and securing FairTrade Borough status for Islington.
